Mikkel+Arren California Coast Intimate Wedding

Mikkel+Arren are the kind of people I just immediately click with when they contact me. Their wedding was so beautiful, and so unapologetically them.

The weekend started at El Matador beach at sunset, running around and taking photos. There’s always an extra feeling of excitement and love that comes from shooting so close to your wedding day. The fact that they were about to get married really started to sink in that night, and it was so beautiful to watch them be with each other so close to such a big day.

The next morning we woke up at sunrise for their first look. They invited their closest fiends and family, and had a small ceremony afterwards. They had a friend officiate the ceremony, and decided to read their vows alone. They didn’t let outside influences affect their wedding decision making, which was very cool.

Afterwards they had a simple lunch at their Airbnb with their family, and chose to spend the rest of the day together. It was such a relaxed day; they stripped down the fluff because that’s what felt right to them.

I love seeing people’s authentic selves reflected in their wedding day. No two people are the same so no two weddings are the same. These two loved to travel, so they decided to get married at a beach they had never been to. We literally showed up for the first time, the morning fo their wedding. I definitely admire their spontaneity. Mikkel + Arren are the perfect reminder that there’s no right or wrong way to have a wedding.
